Tens of thousands of martial arts students from China perform together in the video for MIA‘s new video with Gener8ion.
The video features all 36,000 students from China’s biggest fighting school, Shaolin Tugu. Directed by Inigo Westmeier, the video shows the students carry out a series of moves in unison as well as footage of the students practising and relaxing.
‘The New International Sound (Part II)’ is the title track from Gener8ion four song record, which was released this week on Brodinski’s Bromance Records. French producer Surkin, who has remixed the likes of MIA, Royksopp and Foals, is a part of Gener8ion.
MIA recently took to Instagram to confirm her plans to release a new mixtape and short film. MIA revealed that the mixtape will be three songs in all and totals at 12 minutes in length. She also described it as “a piece of work that has no boundaries and transitions”. It will be accompanied by a short film. See the Instagram post below.
MIA has also claimed that she’s being prevented from releasing a new music video. The singer, who was born in London of Sri Lankan Tamil heritage, detailed the situation via Twitter on May 18, suggesting that accusations of “cultural appropriation” were halting the clip.
