Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ named Spotify’s most popular Halloween song

New survery finds song is most featured in Halloween playlists

Michael Jackson‘s ‘Thriller’ has been named as the most popular Halloween song by Spotify.

Analysis revealed by the streaming service shows that ‘Thriller’ is the most featured track in more than 600,000 Halloween-themed playlists.

Boddy Pickett’s 1962 hit ‘Monster Mash’ followed closely behind while Ray Parker Jr’s ‘Ghostbusters’ theme song came third.

‘This is Halloween’ from The Nightmare Before Christmas came fourth, and ‘Time Warp’ by Richard O’Brien from the The Rocky Horror Picture Show, as well as ‘I Put A Spell On You’ by Screamin’ Jay Hawkins are also in the top 10.

The survey also found that engagement for Halloween was up 117 per cent, with the more Halloween-themed playlists being created this year than ever before. Brighton has been the busiest area, with Bristol in second place and Liverpool in third.
