‘Bo’ Selecta!’ Michael Jackson tribute show details revealed

David Gest makes a cameo, Leigh Francis reveals

‘Bo’ Selecta!’ creator Leigh Francis has revealed details of his one-off Michael Jackson tribute episode of the comedy show, set to air tomorrow (September 24).

The comedian told BBC News that Jackson‘s friend David Gest makes a cameo in the show, set to broadcast on E4 at 10pm (BST). He also revealed that Peaches Geldof and former Spice Girls member Emma Bunton appear, plus spoof versions of Kanye West, Diana Ross and Oprah Winfrey.

David Gest didn’t know what ‘Bo’ Selecta!’ was,” Francis explained. “I showed him a few sketches and he thought it was funny and said Michael Jackson would’ve probably found it funny. He was a friend of Michael Jackson, so for me that was my seal of approval. He even puts a nice message at the end.”

The also said that he knew he would come in for some stick when parodying Jackson after his death in June. “I knew I was going to get hammered for doing it too soon,” he said, “but I also thought I’ve been doing Michael Jackson for six years on ‘Bo’ Selecta!’, so when he died I felt like I had to put that character to rest too.”
