Singer is laid to rest at 200-strong private ceremony
Michael Jackson‘s body was finally buried in the early hours of this morning (September 4).
The self-styled King Of Pop was due to buried on what was his birthday, August 29, but the service was delayed.
The singer’s body was laid to rest in a private ceremony at Glendale‘s Forest Lawn Memorial Park near Los Angeles.
Among the 200 guests – who arrived in a 31-car strong motorcade – were producer Quincy Jones, ex-wife Lisa Marie Presley, Dame Elizabeth Taylor and ‘Home Alone’ actor Macaulay Culkin.
Gladys Knight sang at ceremony, while civil rights campaigner Reverend Al Sharpton spoke, reports BBC News.
Jackson‘s brothers were pallbearers, while the singer’s children sat with his parents.
The Jackson family issued a statement saying he was interred at 9.43 (PDT).
They added: “The Jackson family wishes to once again thank all of Michael‘s fans around the world for their generous outpouring of support during this terribly difficult time.”
Earlier this week (August 28) it was confirmed that Jackson’s death was caused by homicide, and police are currently deciding if there is a criminal case to answer.
