New Michael Jackson album ‘XSCAPE’ to be released in May

Producers including Timbaland contribute to album's eight unreleased songs

Details of a new Michael Jackson album, featuring eight unreleased songs worked on by producers including Timbaland, have been revealed.

‘XSCAPE’ will be released on May 13 via Epic and is the project of executive producer LA Reid, who was granted unlimited access to four decades worth of Jackson’s vocal material.

Timbaland is one of the producers who have “contemporised” Jackson’s material with Rodney Jerkins, Stargate, Jerome “Jroc” Harmon, and John McClain also involved. A deluxe edition of the record will include a selection of the recordings in their original form.

John Branca and John McClain, co-executors of the Estate of Michael Jackson state: “Michael was always on the cutting edge and was constantly reaching out to new producers, looking for new sounds. He was always relevant and current. These tracks, in many ways, capture that spirit. We thank LA Reid for his vision.”

Earlier this year a French court awarded five Michael Jackson fans one euro each in damages after they claimed they had been left devastated by the singer’s death. A court in Orleans, France has now ruled that five of the Jackson-obsessives had proven that they suffered “emotional damage” after his death.
