Michael Jackson is taking a holiday in BAHRAIN to “relax” after his recent child molestation trial.
According to an official in the Gulf state, the singer flew in on a private jet, making it his first trip outside the US since he was cleared of child abuse two weeks ago in a Californian trial (June 13).
The official said: “He is here in Bahrain on a friendly visit to relax and enjoy the hospitality.”
He added: “He is a long time friend of the (royal) family.”
As reported by BBC News, Michael Jackson has a large fan base in Bahrain and other Gulf countries.
The star’s brother Jermaine has contacts with the country’s royal family.
He and the king’s son Sheik Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa announced plans in January to release a charity song.
As previously reported on NME.COM, Michael Jackson revealed that his family, friends and God “dried my tears” during his recent trial on child molestation charges.
The star issued a statement on his official website [url=]mjjsource.com thanking his supporters who stood by him during the four months in court which ended in his acquittal on June 13.
Michael Jackson said: “Your love, support and loyalty made it all possible. You were there when I really needed you. I will never forget you.”
In the message posted on Sunday (June 26), he added: “Your ever-present love held me, dried my tears, and carried me through. I will treasure your devotion and support forever. You are my inspiration.”
Signed “Love, [a][/a],” the posting is believed to be the singer’s first public statement since the close of the trial.
