Libertines producer confirms new single

Clash man Mick Jones returns with Carbon/Silicon

Punk pioneers Mick Jones of The Clash and Tony James of Generation X are to reunite under the name Carbon/Silicon.

The duo will release their debut EP for digital download on May 21, followed by a 7” vinyl and CD a week later (May 28). The EP features four tracks – ‘The News’, ‘Why Do Men Fight?’, ‘I Loved You’ and ‘Ignore Alien Orders’.

Jones and James share a long history together, first collaborating as members of London SS in 1975 before going on to form separate punk bands.

Jones then joined the The Clash and went onto produce The Libertines and Babyshambles.

The four-track EP features the mixing from Bill Price, whose previous credits include The Libertines and The Clash.

The debut Carbon/Silicon album will be released in September.

The band’s first 2007 show will be at the Isle Of Wight Festival on June 9.
