Milburn have debuted their first video in eight years, ‘Midnight Control’, on NME this afternoon (September 19).
‘Midnight Control’ forms part of a double A-side single, out today, with another new track, ‘Forming Of A Fate’. The single was recorded with producer Bill Ryder-Jones, a former member of the Coral.
The release comes after a successful run of comeback shows from the band, including four in their hometown of Sheffield this April and May.
“After the chaos that was the Sheffield ‘comeback’ shows it was important to us that we released some new material if we were going to take the project any further,” frontman Joe Carnall explained. “‘Midnight Control’ is an accidental pop song. We just tried to encapsulate where we are now both musically and lyrically. ‘Forming Of A Fate’ is more of a straight up romper stomper – we can’t wait to play it live.”
“Having Bill (Ryder-Jones) at the helm was crucial to the recording process,” Carnall added. “Whilst he was always there to give his opinion (and ask for help on the crossword), he didn’t over produce and let a lot of the sounds take care of themselves.”
The band head out on a nine-date UK headline tour this month (September), and will support The Courtneeners at two of the band’s arena shows this November.
