Miles Kane on working with Paul Weller on new album: ‘We came up with some crackers’

Singer opens up about his forthcoming second album

Miles Kane has opened up about working with Paul Weller on his new album, saying that the pair have written “some crackers”.

Speaking in this week’s NME about his forthcoming second album, which is on newsstands now or available digitally, Kane said the track ‘You’re Gonna Get It’, which was co-written by Weller and Kane and was unveiled at a Crisis charity gig in London in December is “a great song”.

He added: “It does exactly what it says on the tin. We did about four songs together and we’re gonna record one more…It’s a slowie and we’re gonna try and do that as a live thing in [London’s] Sarm Studios”.

Earlier this month (January 3), Kane unveiled the first track to be taken from the album, which is due for release in spring 2013. ‘Give Up’ – which you can listen to below – was co-written with Kid Harpoon and produced by The Lightning Seeds’ Ian Broudie (The Zutons, Echo And The Bunnymen).

The album is the follow-up to his 2011 debut ‘Colour Of The Trap’, which featured singles ‘Rearrange’ and ‘Come Closer’, as well as ‘Happenstance’, a duet with Harry Potter actor Clémence Poésy, and ‘My Fantasy’, which featured backing vocals from Noel Gallagher.

Meanwhile, Kane will release a four-track EP digitally via iTunes on February 24, with a 7″ format available the following day.
