Miles Kane opens up about working with Lana Del Rey and Jamie T on his latest album

The singer talks about working with both artists on his latest album 'Coup De Grace'

Miles Kane has spoken to NME about working with Lana Del Rey and Jamie T on his latest album, ‘Coup De Grace.’

The chorus of the first single – ‘Loaded’ – from Kane’s latest album was penned by Del Rey, the two sharing a love of 60’s inspired culture and sounds. “She loves similar things,” Kane said of their shared interests.

“She’s an incredible writer,” Kane added. “Does things straight off the bat. I couldn’t really speak highly enough of her and her writing.”

Kane revealed that the two had only met in passing a year before they started to write songs together for the album. The two met initially at a Jamie T gig.

“We’d only met a couple of times, a year before [the writing session]. The day before she came over to write, I bumped into her at Jamie’s gig. But I didn’t really know her. Before we started to write together, we weren’t, you know, going for cappuccinos,” Kane joked.

Recently, Kane also revealed that he did drop several of the songs they wrote together, saying he was “still proud of the songs” but that “they didn’t work for this album.”

Kane also revealed that Jamie T “brought lots to the table” in their collaboration.

“We wrote a lot of tunes. Definitely he helped me lyrically. I tend to fall in the trap of using less words and spacing out the sentences – trying to be coronary, I guess.”

‘Loaded’ was also heavily influenced by Jamie T, according to Kane. “Doing that more rhythmical delivery was something we experimented with…that kinda gave it a new thing for me. I loved it. It opened up a new door.”

Kane recently announced that he was taking ‘Coup De Grace’ on a nationwide tour calling at Glasgow, Manchester, Norwich, Birmingham, Leeds, Hull, Newcastle, Bristol, Leicester, London, Nottingham and ending near his hometown in Liverpool.
