Miley Cyrus makes ‘date rape joke’ onstage at London’s G-A-Y

The singer made the controversial comment during a surprise appearance at the club

Miley Cyrus made a joke that alluded to date rape while onstage at London club G-A-Y over the weekend.

The ‘Bangerz’ singer made an unannounced appearance at the famous gay club, reports The Guardian, and said to the audience: “You know, everyone’s a little bit gay. It’s the truth. Everyone’s gay, all it takes is one cocktail. And if that doesn’t work, sprinkle something in their drink. That’s what I always do.”

Miley Cyrus last week played London’s O2 Arena. Her show started with the singer arriving onstage by skidding down a pink, tongue-shaped slide protruding from a huge image of her face.

She told the crowd: “Hello, motherfuckers! I’m not going down without a motherfucking fight!” before embarking on a set that included the tracks ‘Wrecking Ball’, ‘Adore You’ and ‘We Can’t Stop’. Cyrus, whose stage costumes included a Union Jack one-piece, was joined at various times by dancers, a dwarf and a pantomime horse, and at one point flew through the air riding a giant hot dog.

Her set also featured covers of Arctic Monkeys’ track ‘Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?’, Bob Dylan’s ‘You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go’, Lana Del Rey’s single ‘Summertime Sadness’ and Dolly Parton’s classic ‘Jolene’.
