The WikiLeaks founder, who is standing for election in Australia’s upcoming poll next month, recorded the light-hearted clip for Rap News. In the video, he can first be seen wearing a sleeveless Australian soccer jersey and bandana, then sporting a mullet and miming to a performance of ‘You’re The Voice’ by Australian country singer John Farnham.

Assange recorded the performance from the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, where he has been holed up since June last year. It was reported in October last year that Lady Gaga visited him at the building, while MIA has also long been a supporter and friend of the activist.

Last month, the first trailer for The Fifth Estate, the forthcoming film about the WikiLeaks’ information-leaking website, has been released. Scroll down and click ‘play’ to watch. The movie sees Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch take on the lead role, while other cast members include Laura Linney, Anthony Mackie, Peter Capaldi, Dan Stevens and Stanley Tucci. The film opens in UK cinemas on January 1, 2014.
