Debut release from the most un-Creation Creation artist yet...
According to the myth, Alan signed Mishka after spotting him while on holiday in the Carribean island of Nevis in 1997. Other versions of the story note that Mishka is the brother of Heather Nova, best friend of McGee‘s wife.
Mishka is as far from the Jesus And Mary Chain as it’s possible for a Creation act to be, drawing his inspiration from the quiet lover’s rock of John Holt and Gregory Isaacs as well as more obvious influences like Bobs Marley and Dylan. The debut single has been compared – favourably and unfavourably – to Jimmy Nail.
Mishka‘s eponymous debut album is released on June 14.
He plays a show at London W11 The Tabernacle on May 11, where Pink Floyd played their first show.
