MISSY ELLIOTT will be honoured for her efforts in working against domestic violence at the forthcoming ONLINE HIP HOP AWARDS on May 3.

The star, who, alongside OutKast, will also perform at the fifth annual ceremony at the Manhattan Center Ballroom, will pick up the SHiNE Anti-Violence Award – named for and presented by national youth organisation Seeking Harmony In Neighborhoods Everyday.

“I am happy that I was able to get such an important message out to teens and I hope that it helped anyone who has or is going through a similar situation,” Elliott said. “It’s important for teens to know they are not alone and that things can get better.”

Leading the list of nominees is much fancied newcomer Nelly who picks up six nods, including ones for Best New Artist and Album Of The Year. Both Eminem and Ja Rule are nominated for four. Other hiphop players such as Jay-Z, Mystikal and L’il Bow Wow are also in the frame.

The show, to be webcast live through www.onlinehiphopawards.com, will be hosted by Redman and Angie Martinez.
