Missy Elliott has teased new music after revealing that she had recently finished work on a “big project.”
Elliott, whose last full album release was 2005’s ‘The Cookbook’, took to Instagram on Wednesday (April 17) to reveal that she has finished work on a new project.
Elliott wrote: “I just finished a long project I been working on since last year & this my mood ‘Keep On Movin’ I’m bout to show yall I’m on some next ish.” The post also featured a clip of Elliott dancing to Soul II Soul’s ‘Keep It Moving’.
On Twitter, Elliott added: “It has been a very intense no sleep 5 weeks working on this since last year. I been sick on and off from weather change and this pollen has been kicking my ass but it will be all worth it! I’m excited.”

Last year, Elliott became the first female rapper to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame since its initiation 50 years ago.
More recently, Elliot collaborated with Lizzo on ‘Tempo’ from her major label debut ‘Cuz I Love You’, released on April 19.
Speaking about the collaboration, Lizzo told Beats 1 that she’d reached out to the ‘Work It’ rapper after hearing the song’s completed instrumental.
“I was like, ‘I hope she blesses me with a verse,’” Lizzo explained. “Like, you never know, you send it to your idols, you never know if they gonna send it back.”
Meanwhile, back in November, Elliott lifted the lid on one of the biggest secrets behind her hit ‘Work It’ – revealing that its backwards hook actually came about due to an error from her studio engineer.
“The engineer happened to hit something, and [the hook] just went backward, and I was like, ‘Oh that’s kind of crazy’ because it went backward on the beat,” she recalled.
