Moby compares Morrissey to a ‘weird drunk uncle’

"I kind of wish he would not say weird, racist things"

Moby has spoken out about Morrissey‘s recent controversial comments, comparing the Smiths turned solo star to a ‘weird drunk uncle’.

Last month, Morrissey made headlines when he discussed accusations of racism and alleged connections between Halal meat and ISIS. He also referred to Hitler as ‘left wing’ and said that London Mayor Sadiq Khan “can not talk properly”.

His divisive comments caused much furore online. Now, Moby has said that while he remains a fan of much of his music, he does not agree with his political views.

“This reminds me of a Chris Rock skit, where he’s talking about a weird drunk uncle,” Moby told The Telegraph. “Everyone in the family is like, ‘OK… we love him but he’s gonna do something weird. Just stay away’.”

He added: “I don’t know Morrissey. I liked The Smiths, I like some of his solo records, I appreciate that he’s a vegan… but I kind of wish he would not say weird, racist things.”

Denying accusations of prejudice, Morrissey wrote: “I despise racism. I despise fascism. I would do anything for my Muslim friends, and I know they would do anything for me.”

He continued: “In view of this, there is only one British political party that can safeguard our security. That party is For Britain.”
