Smiths star performs with Modest Mouse

Johnny Marr plays with new band at LA show

Modest Mouse have played their first show with Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr.

The band debuted a series of new tracks from their eagerly awaited new album ‘We Were Dead Even Before The Ship Sank’ at Los AngelesAvalon venue last night (November 6), including ‘We’ve Got Everything’, ‘Missed The Boat’, ‘Dashboard’ and ‘Invisible In Your Car’.

Marr played lead guitar and took up vocal duties with lead singer Isacc Brock on new song ‘Fire It Up’ and 2004 single ‘Float On’, reports Rolling Stone.

The legend also performed backing vocals on ‘Paper Thin Walls’ from 2000’s ‘The Moon And Antarctica’ before taking up guitar duties on ‘Bury Me With It’.

The gig was part of a mini-tour of the US, which continues at The Grove Of Anaheim tonight (November 7).

As previously reported, the band are due to peform at KOKO in London on November 21.

It will be the first time Marr, who helped to write and record ‘We Were Dead Even Before The Ship Sank’, will play with the group in the UK.
