'Come On Die Young' will be re-released in the summer alongside an EP of new music
Mogwai have confirmed that they will re-issue their ‘Come On Die Young’ album as well as revealing plans to score the second series of French TV show The Returned and release an EP of new material later this year.
The band released their latest album, ‘Rave Tapes’, in January and revealed in a new interview with Clash that there is an EP of material recorded at the same time as the album they plan to put out later this year. Frontman Stuart Braithwaite also confirmed plans to contribute more music to TV show Les Revenants, shown in Britain on Channel 4 as The Returned.
“We’ve another EP of songs that we recorded at the same time as ‘Rave Tapes’, and that’ll come out in the autumn,” said Braithwaite. “Also, I know we’re doing the soundtrack to the second series of The Returned.” Mogwai released an album worth of the music they made for series 1 of the French zombie drama in February 2013.
Meanwhile, Braithwaite also discussed plans to re-issue the 1999 album ‘Come On Die Young’ with bonus material. “We’ve just sorted out the 15-year anniversary edition of ‘Come On Die Young’,” he said. “It’ll have 90 minutes of extras. We’d recorded a whole record before we went to America, at the time, and then scrapped it. So we’ve remixed those songs. We’re happy with it. It’s out in the summer, I think.”
Earlier this year Mogwai released their own brand of whiskey to tie in with the release of ‘Rave Tapes’. The single cask whisky, named RockAct81w, has a 57.1%ABV and is limited to 324 numbered bottles, which were distilled in September 2004 at Glenallachie Distillery, Speyside.
