MOGWAI have cancelled their forthcoming BRIGHTON show due to illness.
The band were due to play a show at the Concorde 2 (October 30), but a spokesperson for the band has told NME.COM that guitarist John Cummings is “extremely ill”.
A statement reads: “We greatly regret that we will be unable to play Thursday’s show in Brighton due to one of the band being extremely ill. John Cummings, the band’s lead guitarist, has been very unwell for the last few days and, on the instruction of a doctor, has been ordered to rest. It is hoped that he’ll recover in a few days but there is no possibility of him making tomorrow’s show.
“Mogwai would like to apologise for these unforeseen and uncontrollable events. It’s the first time Mogwai have been forced to cancel a performance in eight years of playing together. We’re hoping that everyone affected understands our situation fully.”
It is anticipated a further statement will be issued shortly.
The gig will still take place, with Melt Banana, Mike Mayer and Coin-Op among those appearing.
