Singer gives his own take on country classic
Morrissey has covered Waylon Jennings’ track ‘Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way’.
The former Smiths man performed his take on the country classic during his show in California last week (August 29). Click below to listen to his version of the song, which was originally released in 1975.
It was revealed last month that Morrissey will release his debut novel, List Of The Lost, later this month (September 24). The book, which is being published by Penguin Books UK, will be paperback only and available in the UK, Ireland, Australia, India, New Zealand and South Africa.
The last time he spoke publicly about his novel, in January 2014, he commented, “I am midway through my novel. I have my hopes. The actuality is that radio stations will not play my music, and the majority of people have lost faith in the music industry, and it’s generally assumed – quite rightly – that the Number One chart positions are ‘bought’ by the major labels, so there really is no passion left in pop or rock music, and I don’t think people believe for an instant that the faces we constantly see on television and in magazines are remotely popular.”
Earlier this week, meanwhile, Morrissey criticised recent plans unveiled by the Australian government to cull up to two million feral cats to help save endangered species. The pledge was made in July by the country’s Federal environment minister, Greg Hunt, who said that reduced numbers of feral cats would “halt and reverse the threats to our magnificent endemic species”.
