1 LOVE – EXPLAINED!

Bosses explain where the proceeds from '1 Love' will go...

WAR CHILD bosses have explained how the proceeds from the ‘1 LOVE’ will be used.

The album, which is released today (October 14), began when NME asked a number of contemporary stars to record versions of their favourite Number One singles of all time for a release to benefit the War Child charity.

War Child director James Topham explained the thinking behind the project. He said that the original War Child album, ‘Help’, provided a good starting point for 1 Love’.

“‘Help’ happened at the time of the Bosnian crisis, but this is actually worse,” he told BBC News. “I got the sense from last September onwards that the music industry was keen to do something.

“There’s the money, which allows us to do a lot of serious work in places like Congo, where a seven-nation war has been going on since 1998. And it’s as much about raising the profile of places like that as money.”
