And she performs live...

Ms Dynamite has scooped the Mercury Music Prize tonight (10:30pm) with her debut album ‘A Little Deeper’. She was awarded it ahead of bookies favourites, The Streets and The Coral.

The 21-year-old picked up a cheque for £20,000 at the Grosvenor House Hotel. The prize was presented by jazz saxophonist Courtney Pine. Ms Dynamite (Nioni Daley) said she intended giving the prize money to charity. She is at the forefront of new black music in the UK, with six nominations in next month’s Music Of Black Origin Awards.

Ms Dynamite, Doves, Gemma Hayes and Roots Manuva all performed live.
