Mt. Desolation have released their multi-director album teaser.
The band, made up of Keane members Tim Rice-Oxley and Jesse Quin released their debut album back in 2010.
The follow-up titled ‘When The Night Calls’ will be released on May 25th through Island Records. In the run up to its release, Rice-Oxley and Quin asked eleven directors to take one album track each and film a one minute video interpretation of the song during an allocated hour of the evening.
The band have been teasing the minute long clips, which have now culminated in one long teaser. Watch it below.
“Inevitably we have our own ideas about what the songs mean to us, and we’ve put all that into the recordings, but it felt like an intriguing experiment to see how a few directors would respond to the music visually,” Oxley explained of the process.
“Some of them are new collaborators, some are old friends, but they’ve all responded very instinctively and put a lot of emotion into their images. Much of When The Night Calls is about the lure of darkness in its many forms, and these short films each happen at different hours of the night…viewed together they create an arc that reflects the journey of the album as a whole.”
The band have previously worked with a number of the directors involved, while also picking others through pen submissions via Creative Commission.
Entrants worked to a brief that incorporated themes of the record and director Marta Brodacka was selected from the submissions and will be directing the video for the album’s lead single ‘On Your Way’ which will be released next month.
