Mumford And Sons to release new bluegrass EP

EP set for release later in 2010

Mumford and Sons have said they are planning to release an EP of new bluegrass songs.

Frontman Marcus Mumford told NME.COM that their idea was to release it later in 2010 either on their own Gentlemen Of The Road label or through Chess Club Records.

“The idea is just to let our hair down a little, have a bit more of a country wig-out,” he said. “Two of them [songs] were written before the album [2009’s ‘Sigh No More’], but we felt like they just didn’t belong there, and a few of them have been written since. But then there’s one where half of it is a really old song of ours that we’re going to try out.”

Mumford and Sons are currently on tour in Europe, are set to tour the USA soon then return to play the UK festival season at events including Glastonbury and the Reading And Leeds Festivals.
