Mumford & Sons to perform on ‘Saturday Night Live’ in April

The band release their third album 'Wilder Mind' in May

Mumford and Sons will play live on US TV next month, appearing on Saturday Night Live.

The band release their third album, ‘Wilder Mind’, on May 4, following on from 2009’s ‘Sigh No More’ and 2012’s ‘Babel’.

The British group will perform on Saturday Night Live on April 11, with the episode hosted by Empire star Taraji P Henson.

This weekend sees George Ezra perform on Saturday Night Live. The episode will be hosted by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson on March 28.

Meanwhile, Mumford & Sons have confirmed that their new record does not feature the banjo, an instrument they have become synonymous with.

‘Wilder Mind’ was recorded at Air Studios, London and produced by James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Haim, Florence + The Machine). A number of the new songs were written at Aaron Dessner of The National’s studios in Brooklyn, New York.

Ben Lovett recently told NME that the band’s change in sound on their third album is a “natural departure”.
