Mumford & Sons share video filmed with fans for new single ‘Guiding Light’

The video was recorded last month with fans

Mumford & Sons have released a new video for their latest single, ‘Guiding Light.’

Directed by Joe Connor (who has worked with Sam Smith and Coldplay) previously, the video was filmed outside Tate Modern last month.

The band performed an impromptu live set with the help of a selection of their fans and passers by who stopped to view the event next to the River Thames.

A group of 100 fans were randomly selected and invited to take part in the video and meet the band. After some brief rehearsals, the fans and the band travelled to the Southbank to film a live performance; the fans sang the chorus.

Speaking about the new album, Winston Marshall said: “I think at the beginning [of recording the album] we kind of fell back in love with the old instruments we didn’t play on ‘Wilder Mind’ like the acoustic stuff and the more folky instruments but [we were] conscious [about] how we can make these instruments sound not like these instruments which opened up a whole new world for us…”

Frontman Marcus Mumford added: “On this record it’s felt like there have been no boundaries creatively.”

The band will play a UK and Ireland tour starting next month and you can buy tickets for the gigs here.

The tour is the most ambitious the band have undertaken as over 800,000 tickets are sold for dates around the world. After the UK and Ireland part of the tour has ended, the band will travel to the US and Canada before heading to Australia and New Zealand.

The band will then head back to the US before concluding with sixteen further dates across Europe. They will reportedly perform on a new “groundbreaking stage right across the middle of the room”.
