Muse win Best Live Band at Shockwaves NME Awards

Grace Jones presents trio with prize at O2 Brixton Academy

Muse have been named Best Live Band at the 2009 Shockwaves NME Awards tonight (February 25).

The trio picked up their award from black leather-clad presenter Grace Jones at the ceremony at the O2 Academy Brixton.

Drummer Dom Howard said: “Thanks for this, yeah, its a pleasure to be here tonight – Brixton Academy is a great venue for this.”

Speaking about the live performances so far, he added: “Elbow and White Lies were great – they normally sound shit at these things but tonight they didn’t.”
