Muse have revealed how they’re hoping that Skepta, Charli XCX, Stormzy and Haim headline Reading and Leeds festivals in the very near future.
As they picked up the award for Best Festival Headliner for their Reading and Leeds headline slot in 2017, Muse drummer Dom Howard used the opportunity to reveal who he’s tipping for the top slot in future.
“Best festival headliner, that’s cool!”, Howard said.
“But I’d like to see Skepta, Stormzy, Haim and Charli XCX headlining in the future”.
The trio topped the bill at Reading & Leeds Festivals 2017, as well as a host of other events in the US and beyond – including Las Vegas’ Life Is Beautiful, and Chicago’s Lollapalooza.
Each of their sets featured new takes on their classic songs, with extended intros, new solos and rock references intertwined with their own riffs.
Speaking on the NME awards red carpet, they also opened up on how their new “epic” single will see the rock eras blending genres with influences taken directly from the 1980s.
“We’re getting into blending genres and eras together, both in the styles and in the music”, Matt Bellamy told NME.“The video, well you’ve seen that artwork, it’s not really that 80s sounding but there’s some elements in the drums.
“It’s an arena sound and synths. There’s a couple of synths in it. It’s a pretty epic and anthemic track.”
