N-Dubz’ Tulisa Contostavlos: ‘I used to carry a baseball bat for protection’

X Factor judge insists she never used the weapon, though

N-Dubz singer Tulisa Contostavlos has claimed that she used walk the streets carrying a baseball bat in her pocket for her personal protection.

The X Factor judge told the Daily Mirror she felt forced to carry the weapon after being targeted by bullies at school – but never ended up having to use it.

She explained:

I didn’t end up having to use the bat, but I did have to punch people back.

The 23-year-old, who grew up in Camden, north London, also claims that she was “treated like shit” during her formative years – and is thus very defensive.

“I can be very feisty, but that’s a defence mechanism for me,” she added.

Meanwhile, Little Mix, the act Contostavlos is mentoring on this year’s series of the X Factor, have apparently begged her to sing with them if they reach the final of the competition.

Band member Jesy Nelson told The Sun she’d love their mentor to join them onstage, but Contostavlos is apparently worried it will break the show’s rules.
