NATALIE IMBRUGLIA has almost completed work on her long-awaited second album.

The former Australian soap star spent much of this year working on the follow-up to her ‘Left Of The Middle’ album. The as-yet-untitled record is expected later this year or at the start of 2002, according to

Imbruglia has been working with former Cure bassist Phil Thornalley, who co-wrote her smash hit ‘Torn, as well as the songwriter Patrick Leonard, who has previously worked alongside Madonna, as well as producers Gary Clark and Ian Stanley who have worked with kd Lang and Tori Amos respectively.

Working titles for the material are said to include ‘Goodbye’, ‘Wrong Impression’ and ‘That Day’. A US spokesperson for Imbruglia has described her new material as “deeper” and “tougher” than her previous output.

Imbruglia‘s last previous recording was the Billy Corgan-penned track ‘Identify’, which featured on the soundtrack to horror movie ‘Stigmata’.
