Neil Young files for divorce from wife Pegi

The couple were married in 1978

Neil Young has filed for divorce from his wife of 36 years, Pegi Young.

The papers were filed on July 29 in Young’s hometown of San Mateo in California, with a hearing set for December 12, reports Rolling Stone. Both artists were due to play Willie Nelson’s Farm Aid in North Carolina on September 13, however, Pegi was recently taken off the bill.

Pegi often sang backing vocals with Neil, and has released three of her own solo albums; her self-titled debut in 2007, ‘Foul Deeds’ in 2010 and ‘Bracing For Impact’ in 2011. She founded The Bridge School in 1986, a special needs school which raises funds every year with a huge benefit concert, which has previously seen performances from Tom Waits, Queens Of The Stone Age, Mumford & Sons, Bob Dylan and Foo Fighters, as well as Neil Young who performs every year.
