And the Canadian singer is also set to work with Timbaland and Paul Oakenfold...

NELLY FURTADO has spoken exclusively to NME.COM about her appearance at V2001 – plus her collaborations with MISSY ELLIOTT, TIMBALAND and PAUL OAKENFOLD.

Furtado, whose ‘Whoa, Nelly!’ album has been an international hit, makes her first UK festival appearances this summer at the V2001 festival, which takes place at Hylands Park, Chelmsford (August 18), and Weston Park, Staffordshire (August 19).

The Canadian singer told NME.COM: “It’s one of the reasons I make music – I live for these summertime festivals. We’re going on the Area One tour in the US with Moby first, so by the time of V2001 we’ll have played a lot and we’ll be ready for it.”

Furtado has also collaborated with Missy Elliott, a fan of the Canadian singer, who recently described her as “dope”. The pair recorded a version of Missy‘s single ‘Get Ur Freak On’ for the ‘Tomb Raider’ soundtrack, released via East West on July 9.

“The whole thing was a blast, really inspiring,” said Furtado. “I haven’t seen the film, but Missy and I are probably going to go to the premiere together and we’re performing it on the ‘Jay Leno Show’. That’s going to be off the hook!”

DJ Paul Oakenfold and producer Timbaland are also set to collaborate with Furtado.
