Nelly Furtado announces plans to record in Spanish

It's her first major foray in the Latin language

Chart-topper Nelly Furtado has announced plans to record an album in Spanish.

The star grew up speaking Portuguese and didn’t learn Spanish until she was a teenager, but said she has always had a passion for the language.

“I feel like a little kid again, because it’s a whole new language,” she told MTV. “And I can’t translate poetically yet. It’s like, ‘Wow, I’m writing a song in Spanish.’ It’s really bizarre, but really great.”

Furtado has sung a few songs in Spanish, but this will be her first time writing in the language from scratch.
