Neon Neon and Dirty Pretty Things celebrate Obama win in Dublin

'We introduced Har Mar Superstar as the next president' says Boom Bip

Neon Neon marked election night with a gig in Dublin, during which they introduced Har Mar Superstar as the next president of the United States, and later knocked back pints with Dirty Pretty Things while watching election results.

Boom Bip (aka Bryan Hollon) told NME.COM that he and bandmate Gruff Rhys joined Dirty Pretty Things after the gig to watch the election results at a theatre in the Irish capital while knocking back pints.

“We had a gig in Dublin, which was amazing,” Boom Bip said. “We had the crowd singing ‘We Are The World’ and introduced Har Mar Superstar as the next president of the USA.

“After the show we were bubbling in anticipation and along with Dirty Pretty Things made our way to a theatre where a few hundred people were tossing down pints watching three massive screens of results. The wonderful people in the band Apollo Sunshine joined us as we watched. It was a family affair,” he said.

“We stuck around long enough to see Obama win in Ohio – my home state – and Pennsylvania. We made our way back to the hotel and had a bit of a party in our beds into the wee hours of the morning.

“What a fucking amazing night,” he added. “We could not be more ecstatic about having him in office. If nothing else he brings hope to the world and has changed the psyche of America…the world! We can again be proud to be an American.”
