Manchester band perform new single on prime time US show

New Order played new song ‘Singularity’ last night (March 14) live on ‘The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

The Manchester hailing band are enjoying a fruitful 18 months, which saw them release Music Complete in 2015, their first studio album in 10 years. The band have also embarked upon a current tour of the US and Europe.

As Pitchfork reports, the band also recently shared an extended mix of “Singularity’. You can watch the collective play on ‘Colbert’ in the video player below.

Earlier this year (2016), the band released a new video for track ‘Singularity’ as they prepared to begin a tour of the US and Europe kicking off last week (March 11) at New York’s Radio City Hall.

‘Singularity’ was taken from the band’s acclaimed 2015 album ‘Music Complete’ and was comprised of footage -edited by Damian Hale – taken from Lust & Sound in West-Berlin 1979-1989, an art-house movie about Mark Reeder’s life in Germany. The band will tour through spring and summer including a show at Manchester’s Castlefield Bowl on July 7.

Previously, New Order released a a disco-lit video for ‘Tutti Frutti’You can watch the new video for ‘Singularity’ below, which features a bass heavy, melancholic, post-punk feel.

New Order have launched a new archival website of the same name: ‘Singularity: The Influence of New Order‘.

The website documents that band’s musical influences through tributes, cover songs and specially curated mixtapes besides more personal memorabilia.

Among the confirmed content for the website so far is Cold Cave’s cover of ‘Your Silent Face’ (below); Chromatics’ cover of ‘Ceremony‘; Hot Chip’s remix of ‘Tutti Frutti‘ and a mixtape curated by The Cure’s Robert Smith.

The Manchester group also confirmed details of European festival dates, including Sonar, Roskilde, Rock Werchter and Oya Festival. In between, they will headline a homecoming gig at Manchester’s Castlefield Bowl on July 7.
