New Order share rare footage of beautiful ‘Ceremony’ performance from 1981

The footage comes from the upcoming re-release of 'Movement'

New Order have shared rare archive footage of a performance of their classic single ‘Ceremony’. See it first on NME below.

Filmed at Manchester’s CoManCHE Student Union on February 6, 1981, the clip is taken from their upcoming reissue of their seminal album ‘Movement‘. The rarely seen footage was previously released on the FACT 56 compilation video.

While the track did not feature on ‘Movement’, it was the debut single from New Order having previously been written, performed and demoed as Joy Division before the death of frontman Ian Curtis. Over the years, the cult favourite has been covered by the likes of Radiohead, Chromatics and Ian McCulloch.

‘Movement’ is set to be reissued on vinyl and CD – boasting tonnes of previously unreleased cuts, demos, and live performances. Concert footage from a 1980 show will be included on a DVD.

The reissue of ‘Movement’ will be available from April 5, 2019. Pre-order it here.
