Nick Cave and Warren Ellis announce release of soundtrack to French film ‘Loin Des Hommes’

Soundtrack follows the pair's work on 'The Road' and 'The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford'

Nick Cave and Warren Ellis will release their original soundtrack to French film Loin Des Hommes.

The film, which has the English title Far From Men, is an adaptation of Albert Camus’ short story ‘The Guest’. A preview of Cave and Ellis’ work, which will be released on May 18, can be heard below.

Loin Des Hommes stars Viggo Mortensen and Reda Kateb in what is described as a tale of colonial conflict in Algeria.

“Very often a tension can happen between music and picture that is about chance and a kind of unknowingness that can be really amazing,” said Cave of the soundtrack. “Just by putting together two things that were created in isolation, music and film, suddenly something quite magical can happen.”

Cave and Ellis have worked together on a number of film scores in the past, including 2005 western The Proposition, which Cave scripted. They also worked on Brad Pitt film The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and The Road, which also stars Viggo Mortensen.

Meanwhile, Nick Cave recently announced plans to publish a diary written on airplane sick bags. The Sick Bag Song will come out in June and is comprised of notes made by the Bad Seeds frontman on the band’s 2014 tour.
