Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds play the opening show of this year’s Meltdown festival at the London SE1 Royal Festival Hall on June 17; Meltdown 99 is being organised by Nick Cave, who selected all the events and performers at the festival which runs until July 2.
There will also be spoken word events featuring Cave and fruiends as well as performances by Nina Simone, Bonnie Prince Billy, The Dirty Three and composer Arvo Part. And to offset this, comedian Barry Humphries in his guise as Australian cultural ambassador Sir Les Patterson, will host a special Australian night.
Tickets for all events go on sale on Monday April 19 from the Royal Festival Hall. Credit card bookings on 0171 960 4242.
