Nicki Minaj resurrects Twitter account eight days after deletion

The rapper has lost roughly 10.5 million followers over the past week

Nicki Minaj has returned to Twitter a mere eight days after deleting her account.

The rapper has reactivated her page – Twitter.com/NickiMinaj – on the social networking site, but has yet to post anything since her last tweet on April 15.

Since deleting her account she has lost roughly 10.5 million followers, with only 559,220 still following the star at the time of writing.

Last week Nicki Minaj said that she deleted her Twitter account after she was told to do so by a voice in her head. It was thought that the rapper got rid of her social networking account after a disagreement with some of her followers who had posted snippets of her new album online.

Minaj told TV host Graham Norton – via Idolator – that: “A voice in my head told me to delete my Twitter and that’s what I did.” She added: “I had 11 million followers and I hope they will wait for me.”

When asked on The Graham Norton Show if she will return to Twitter, she responded: “I don’t know yet, I’m thinking about it. I miss my Barbz, please bear with me.”

The rapper released her second album ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’ earlier this month. Minaj will tour the UK in June, playing two shows at London’s HMV Hammersmith Apollo on June 24 and 25, before moving onto Birmingham’s NIA Academy on June 26. Minaj wraps up the tour on June 28 with a show at Manchester’s O2 Apollo.

Nicki Minaj will also play a number of this year’s summer festivals, with slots booked at T In The Park, V Festival and Wireless Festival.
