Nicki Minaj’s brother pleads not guilty to child rape

Jelani Maraj, 37, accused of sexually abusing a 12 year-old girl

Nicki Minaj‘s brother has denied charges of raping an underage girl.

Jelani Maraj, 37, was arrested last December following accusations that he had sexually abused a 12 year-old.

Bossip now reports that Maraj appeared at New York’s Nassau County Court for his arraignment on April 4, later returning to court on Tuesday (April 19), pleading not guilty to felony sexual assault against a child, two felony counts of sexual conduct against a child and a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child.

According to the reports, Maraj is accused of raping the victim for “several months… the last rape occurring one day before his arrest”.

Maraj’s lawyer has declined to comment on the case.

Maraj has been released on bail after a $100,000 (£70k) bond was paid by his mother.

Minaj has not publicly spoke about the matter but does reference her older brother on the song ‘All Things Go’ from 2014’s ‘The Pinkprint’, in which she raps: “And I know Jelani will always love me, and I’ll always love him”.
