Rapper and singer have bust-up during 'American Idol' filming
Nicki Minaj threatened to “knock out” Mariah Carey during a taping of the American Idol auditions, according to reports.
The warring duo came to blows when a disagreement over a contestant’s performance prompted Minaj to launch a tirade of insults towards Carey – watch footage of the fight above.
In the video, obtained by TMZ, the rapper can clearly be heard shouting “I told them I’m not fucking putting up with her fucking highness over there” towards the singer.
The US gossip site claims a source told them Minaj threatened to “knock out” Carey, but the threat was made prior to the video starting. While Mouthtoears.com report the fight started after Carey called Minaj “a bitch”.
Fellow American Idol judges Keith Urban and Randy Jackson apparently tried their best to calm the pair down, but their attempts to placate the duo falls on deaf ears. A full transcript of the fight is below:
Nicki Minaj: “Get this shit in self control. Get in control. Get in control.”
Randy Jackson: “Settle down, settle down.”
Nicki: “Don’t lose your head. Don’t lose your head (inaudible). Don’t tell me I’m a gangster.”
Nicki: “(Inaudible) every five minutes. So every time you patronise me, I’m-ma take it back, and if you’ve got a fucking problem, handle it.”
Nicki: “I told them I’m not fuckin’ putting up with her fucking highness over there. Figure it the fuck out. Figure it out.”
Nicki: I’m not gonna sit here every fucking minute to have you come down and harass me every minute every day.”
Producers were forced to cut auditions short and stopped the day’s filming so the warring judges could calm down. The show’s bosses had hoped the new-look panel would boost the show’s flagging ratings. Audience’s for the 2012 series were down 30 per cent on 2011. The season finale only drew 21.5 million viewers, a record low, to see Phillip Phillips win.
