Nicki Minaj has released two new tracks in ‘Barbie Tingz’ and ‘Chun-Li’.
Minaj took to social media on Tuesday (April 10) to announce that the tracks – titled ‘Barbie Tingz’ and ‘Chun-Li’ – would arrive on Thursday (April 12).
The rapper premiered the tracks on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show, and joined the presenter for an in-depth interview. You can listen to both new songs below.
Minaj last released an album in 2014 in the form of ‘The Pinkprint’. Last year saw Minaj release a number of tracks, including her Drake and Lil Wayne collaboration ‘No Frauds’ and Migos and Cardi B team-up ‘MotorSport’.
Minaj also addressed rumours that she was taking aim at Cardi B on a leaked snippet of a new song, in which she rapped: “I ain’t never had to strip to get the pole position.” Speaking to Lowe, she said: “I wrote that song in Paris a year and a half ago. It was meant to be for Drake’s new album, so that’s how old that is.”
She continued to explain that she was “really hurt” by the first interview the ‘Invasion Of Privacy’ star gave after ‘MotorSport’ was released. “It really hurt me cos she looked so aggravated and angry,” she said. “I felt ambushed. I went on Twitter and I explained how ‘MotorSport’ came about and people were saying I was lying.
“I text Quavo and asked him to back me up, and he didn’t back me up,” she added. “He texted me saying, ‘I would go on Twitter and back you up if you were my girl LOL.'” Minaj could be heard crying as she discussed the “Nicki hate train” and said she knew “they” would use scheduling conflicts that meant she couldn’t shoot the ‘MotorSport’ video with Migos and Cardi to “make me look bad”.
Cardi B recently denied ever having beef with Minaj, saying that fans on the internet made the whole thing up.
“[If] you listen to Nicki Minaj’s ‘Only’. I mean, some of those lyrics are like, ‘Holy shit!’ I, as an adult, listening to that by myself, am shocked at some of the words that I’m hearing,” he said.
“But it’s brilliant! It’s brilliant to be able to say that, to be able to say whatever you want. I couldn’t get away with saying half of those things that Nicki Minaj says in that song. It’s just brilliant to see how far things have gone in that sense, and how cool it is for people to talk about these moments and say, ‘Wow, check this out.’”
