Nicki Minaj explains cancellation of North American tour: ‘I simply don’t have time to rehearse’

Nicki's heading out on her own tour instead...

Nicki Minaj and Future have cancelled the entire North American leg of their joint tour.

The pair were due to head out on the NickiHndrxx tour this September, but it has now been shelved after Minaj “decided to re-evaluate elements of production”, and devote more time to rehearsals before hitting the road.

Following the announcement, the rapper took to Twitter to apologise to fans and explain the decision. “Future and I will now start the European leg of our tour first, so those dates will stay exactly the same and the US leg of the tour will now start in May,” she said. “With Future’s schedule, I may have to take another co-headliner or I may just do it like I did The Pinkprint Tour and it wouldn’t be a co-headline. I probably will just have three or four opening acts.”

She continued: “This is all happening because I pushed my album back two months and I just finished writing and recording literally hours before the album came out. Now, I simply don’t have the time to rehearse and be on the road and give you guys the level of a show I need to give. I really apologise but it will be worth it.”

Instead, Minaj will now kick off the US tour in May 2019, but scheduling conflicts mean that Future will no longer take part.

“Due to scheduling conflicts Future will not be on the North American run,” a statement from Live Nation confirmed.

“Nicki Minaj will be announcing new North American dates to kick off in May 2019. Refunds for the previously scheduled North American dates will be available at point of purchase, with new Nicki Minaj on-sale details announced soon.”

The European leg of the joint tour is scheduled to kick off in Munich on February 21 next year. Tickets for the shows are available here.

The cancellation comes only hours after Minaj doubled down on her criticism of Travis Scott and Spotify.

As she appeared on Beats 1 yesterday, Minaj repeated her criticism of Scott’s album ‘Astroworld’ bagging the US number one spot.

On ‘Queen Radio’, Minaj said, “What we’re not gonna do is have that Auto-Tune man selling fucking sweaters telling you he sold half a million albums because he fucking didn’t. You stupid fuck. You got your fucking homeboy talking for you and you got your girlfriend selling tour passes. Stop it. Knock it the fuck off.”
