Trent Rezor has said he is preparing to record as Nine Inch Nails once again.
In 2009 the frontman said that Nine Inch Nails would be winding down and no longer playing live. But he has now said he plans to record new material under that moniker soon.
In a lengthy blog post on Forum.nin.com, he explained of his long-time project’s status: “Nine Inch Nails is not dead and I plan to focus on that next.”
He also addressed rumours that he had completed work on his album with new outfit How To Destory Angels – his band with wife Maureen Maandig.
“Perhaps I mis-spoke on the red carpet or wherever, it was [reported that] I said the new How To Destroy Angels record is finished – it is not,” he wrote. “We’ve been working since last summer on it and are due to mix it this summer for a fall release.”
Reznor also confirmed he was working on the score for new film Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and would be making a cameo in the movie.
“I read the script and it felt like an interesting challenge as a composer,” he explained. “While discussing the film with Timur [Bekmambetov – director] he started gently pressing me to play a small role in the film. The idea was a cameo-esque role that would be kept under wraps and be a surprise around opening night.”
Reznor won an Oscar earlier this month for this score for The Social Network.
