Lostprophets drummer joins Nine Inch Nails

Ilan Rubin will replace Josh Freese

Nine Inch Nails have recruited Lostprophets‘ drummer Ilan Rubin.

Rubin will join the band as of early next year.

He will replace Josh Freese, who had been with Nine Inch Nails since 2005.

Trent Reznor posted on the NIN.COM, saying: “With great pride and excitement I announce the addition of Ilan Rubin to the line-up beginning next year.”

Reznor added: “I had the chance to see Ilan playing his ass off at Reading and Leeds a couple summers ago and he blew me away. We recently invited him out to rehearse with us and he blew US away – the perfect guy to pick up the sticks after Josh leaves us at the end of the year.”

The post added the band will be making some 2009 tour announcements soon.

The role with [a]Nine Inch Nails follows Rubin’s recent announcement of a side project called The New Regime.

It is not currently clear if Rubin‘s commitments with Lostprophets will be effected by his new role.
