Trent Reznor on Death Grips: ‘Why would I have ever thought those dudes could keep it together?’

Death Grips were due to support Nine Inch Nails on major US tour this month

Nine Inch Nails‘ Trent Reznor has commented on the sudden breakup of Death Grips.

The California noise group were due to support Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden on their 24-date co-headline tour of the USA, which begins in Las Vegas on July 19 and concludes on August 25 in Los Angeles, but the band last night announced an immediate split, saying “we are now at our best and so Death Grips is over”.

Reznor took to Twitter soon after to issue the message: “sorry everyone… why would I have ever thought those dudes could keep it together?”

Death Grips’ career was characterised by unpredictable behaviour, from leaking their own album ‘No Love Deep Web’ (complete with a cover image of an erect penis) to ‘performing’ a number of shows in which they set up their equipment but failed to appear on stage, usually resulting in the trashing of their gear.

A replacement support act for the Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden tour has not yet been announced.
