Joan Jett tipped to front Nirvana at Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction tonight (April 10)

'I Love Rock 'N' Roll' singer could be one of a number of artists to join Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic

Joan Jett has been tipped to join the remaining members of Nirvana onstage at their Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction tonight (April 10).

The rumours were sparked by a photograph of Jett’s distinctive Gibson Melody Maker guitar alongside Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear’s instruments, which was posted on the Foo Fighters Instagram account.

Other rumours have indicated that Michael Stipe, who will induct the band, could join them onstage leading to suggestions that now a revolving cast of singers could stand in for original frontman Kurt Cobain.

As previously reported, Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic teased that the surviving members of the band could perform by posting a message on Twitter saying that he was practicing bass parts and mentioning Nirvana.

The ceremony will take place at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center and will also see Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello induct Kiss and Bruce Springsteen induct the E Street Band, while Coldplay’s Chris Martin will pay tribute to Peter Gabriel. Meanwhile, Glenn Frey of the Eagles will induct his former bandleader Linda Ronstadt. Stevie Nicks, Carrie Underwood, Emmylou Harris, Sheryl Crow and Bonnie Raitt will perform a tribute to the singer.
