Fans speak to NME.COM out about shock news
Fans have spoken out following the news that the Michael Jackson has died.
Fan Laura Hale from Chester told NME.COM that she was stunned by the news, pointing to the fact that he was just a few weeks short of making a live comeback in London.
Jackson was set to kick off a 50-date residency at the London O2 Arena on July 13.
“I was shocked – this was his chance to make something with the London shows,” said Hale. “It was such harsh timing. It’s a huge loss to pop music.”
Alice Wimberley described the singer as an “icon”, adding that the news was a bolt from the blue for her. “I had all his albums,” she said. “I just couldn’t have expected this.”
Nick Parnes, meanwhile, described the late singer as a “legend”. He said: “He was an incredible, incredible talent. MJ was in the time before the time, an icon of a generation that we all really loved. All of us of a certain age think of him as legend.
“There are only a few of us who make a mark in this world and MJ is one. You will remember where you were when MJ died.”
According to reports fans are set to gather at London‘s Trafalgar Square tonight to pay tribute to the singer.
