Danny Brown shares video for new single ‘When It Rain’

The Detroit rapper is back with a new track

Danny Brown has released a music video for his new single ‘When It Rain’.

The video, directed by Mimi Cave, is made up of psychedelic VHS footage of dancers and rappers and also features shots of Brown in his hometown of Detroit.

The Motor City rapper is currently working on a follow-up to 2013’s ‘Old’. ‘When It Rain’, the first track from the upcoming album, is out today via Warp Records.

In a press release, Brown said: “With the blessing of my Fools Gold family by my side, I’m excited to be working with Warp on new material. They’re music fans to the same high degree I am and I’m looking forward to breaking some rules together.”

Last week, Brown updated his fans on the progress of his fourth album, saying that he is putting the “finishing touches” on the record.

In a post on Instagram, Brown posed in the studio next to producer mixedbyali, writing in the caption that he is “putting the final touches on my next masterpiece”. He goes on to ask his fans – “#Bruisers”, named after his 2011 song ‘Bruiser Brigade’ from the album ‘XXX’ – to “get ready [as] Stanny Crown season is approaching.”

The rapper last gave an update on his new record back in April, telling fans in a Twitter Q&A that he had stopped work on his new album as he was ahead of schedule and did not want to release a record in the immediate future.

Earlier this year Brown discussed what type of album he is trying to record, saying: “With ‘Old’, I made songs for me to perform at festivals. With this album, instead of me making songs that would fit at a festival, I’m trying to create my own songs to perform at a festival.”
