Carla Bruni marries French President

Singer ties the knot just weeks before second album drops

Carla Bruni has officially become France’s First Lady after marrying President Nicolas Sarkozy over the weekend.

The supermodel-turned-singer met Sarkozy around three months ago, and the pair wed on Saturday morning (February 2) at the Elysee Palace by the mayor of Paris’ eighth arrondissement, Francois Lebel.

Lebel told Europe-1 Radio the bride wore white, and looked “ravishing as usual”.

It is the first marriage for Bruni, who was one of the world’s most successful models in the 90s and had previously dated Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton. It is the third marriage for Sarkozy.

As previously reported, Bruni’s second album ‘No Promises’ is scheduled to be released February 19 in the US. The album interprets Bruni’s favourite poems through song.
